Aerial Henderson is a Chicagoan through and through, growing up on both the North Side and the South Side. She attended University of Illinois in Chicago where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, and is currently a student at DePaul University College of Law.
She never considered law as a career growing up–she wanted to be a doctor. After her freshman year, she found that math and science were not of interest to her so she sought a different degree path. She was inspired by the teacher of her Criminal Justice class to pursue a career in law. She saw, growing up, how lack of access to good family law and criminal law attorneys had far-reaching effects on people’s lives. She wants to do what she can to meet that need.
Aerial takes her studies seriously–she is an Associate Editor for Law Review at DePaul and received the Diversity Scholarship Recipient in the Spring of 2017. She believes in Community Service and serves as the Vice President of the Black Law Student Association as well as being part of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. She participated in the DePaul College of Law Service Immersion trip in January of 2017 and received the Dean’s Student Service Award in 2017.
Aerial has made it a priority to gain practical job experience in law also. She has worked in the Office of the Cook County State’s Attorney in Chicago and the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic which is located at the Cook County Circuit Court Domestic Violence Courthouse.
