Parenting Time

The Illinois Parentage Act of 1984 was replaced by the Illinois Parentage Act of 2016. The terms “Residential Custody” and “Visitation” are no longer used.

Now they are referred to as Allocation of Parenting Time within the Parenting Plan. Part 2 of the Parenting Plan specifies when each parent is responsible for the child’s care and day-to-day decisions. See Parenting Plan – Parenting Time for some examples.
The Court can override Parenting Time Allocation if it is necessary to protect the child.
